Hi, I want to know the dimensions of the sensor in the clip of MultispeQ.
Sure - the physical case is ~25mm wide around the area where the leaf is clamped. The actual light guide area (ie the smallest leaf area required to take a complete measurement) is 9.5mm x 9mm . Those are estimates (I don't have the drawings in front of me) but very close.
We have other lab's (Maren Friesen at MSU) who are masking the light guide to handle thinner leaves (clovers and thin grasses). The mask is about 3mm x 3mm circle. They can successfully measure photosynthesis (Phi2, PhiNPQ, LEF, etc.) and chlorophyll content.
Thank for your answer! Is it possible to buy the instrument and the mask together?
We're still working on the mask, so I don't think we're quite ready to sell it together as it's not extremely well tested. It's possible that by the time the device ships I'll be comfortable enough to include that, but we'll have to see.
Even if they aren't included, I'd be happy to cut some and send them to you if you're willing to share you experience - that'll really help us understand how robust they are.
