Is there a way to make changes to the data after collection? Specifically, I've noticed that some of the answers to the project questions were entered incorrectly when measurements were taken. I know what the answers should have been, based on the dates and times of collection, but the only I see to correct these errors is to download the .csv file and do the data analysis from Excel from there out. Is there a way to edit the answers on the Photosynq website or to re-upload the data after I've made the corrections in Excel? I really like the Photosynq data analysis interface and want to be able to use it.

Hi,

no, it is not possible to change given answers to questions. We are not altering the raw data after it is submitted.

But: You can upload and use corrected answers using the import custom data function for a project. The imported data, as long as it is categorical, can be used to filter the dataset in the same way project questions can be used.

Please see the help documentation on importing custom data: https://help.photosynq.org/projects/import-custom-data and let us know if you have more questions.

Thank you, Sebastian!

I was able to download my data, add the additional columns to correct for the incorrect answers, and upload the edited spreadsheet.

However, I don't see all 3 of the new columns I added when I'm creating series. All 3 seemed to register when I did the upload, because I got a message that listed all 3. But when I'm defining my series, I see just 2 of my 3 imported categories under the heading "Imported Data (categorical)" and I also see 3 of the original question categories listed again. I don't believe I edited any of the answers for these questions, and it sounds like I wouldn't have been able to in any case, based on your earlier response.

I can work around this and create series that allow me to do my data analysis with just 2 of the imported categories, but any help to get them all imported would be appreciated!

Hi,

I assume you are referring to this project https://photosynq.org/projects/lettuce_round1/ and that you are talking about the spreadsheet when viewing the project data? It might be a bug, when the column name you use for the imported data is the exact same as the question... I will investigate. In the meantime, please just change the column names for the imported data slightly and reimport again. After that it should work.

Please always provide a link to the project you are working on and specify where you have the issue, e.g. viewing the project data using the spreadsheet. Otherwise it is almost impossible for me to find out what are you doing...
