What kinds of info indicate a datapoint is invalid?

By Anne Stanton

Hi, I'm trying to sort through my dataset and determine which datapoints are useful and which ones ought to be discarded (probably due to operator error). At this point I question the NPQt values that show up as negative. Can these be disregarded and the rest of that datapoint kept or is the whole measurement suspect? Is there tutorial for how to sift through the data an... read more

What do NPQT, FoPrime and FmPrime stand for?

By Anne Stanton

I'm now at the point where I want to download some of the data I've collected and I can find definitions of some of the parameters that I've measured (phi2, LEF, SPAD, PAR), but I'm wondering what these others are? Thanks

Can I delete a project?

By Greg Austic

QUESTION (from Lucia): I am so happy with the device. I have a question: is there any way to delete a project that I already create? ANSWER: No, not right now. Our general strategy is to never delete data, for a wide variety of reasons. That being said, we are planning to have a 'active/inactive' type filter on project so once a project is completed, you can just make ... read more

Help determining 'normal traces" versus zero phi2 and data to be excluded

By Sonya Lawrence

Hi Greg, Three things: 1. I have noticed negative values in the LEF which I assume is connected to the negative phi2 and one would not make these values just 0 right? We had a group collecting data in the dark and I noticed a lot of negative values in their data -- how should we handle this? -- it is the chlamy group? http://photosynq.org/projects/chlamy-group-bs-172-s... read more

A number of good questions

By Greg Austic

QUESTION (from Ashley): I noticed there is a way to download data from projects. My question is would I be able to download data from other people's projects and then be able to put it on a graph comparing it to my sugar beet data to see if sugar beets values are similar or not via the PhotosynQ sofware. Or because I can download it in a text form I would have to use a di... read more

Data Uploading problems

By Sonya Lawrence

Hi, 1. Yesterday a student was having trouble synching the data to the website. I did today and it says it was uploaded but on the tablet screen it says 97 cache data points. We are confused since we were told it was uploaded -- can we logout and be confident the data was uploaded since I do not see the data at the site yet? Also, we have had students say they did not ... read more

Data headings after changing web site

By Sonya Lawrence

Hi, Just looked at our student data at http://photosynq.org/projects/photosynthetic-efficiency-project-us15 and we noticed that the downloaded data headings do not match the headings on-line. We would like to know what should be the headings of the data in rows 125 and below since it does not match the headings in row 1? I have also noticed that we get a NaN value - why ... read more

Website - adding other data to it

By Sonya Lawrence

Hi, Our students this summer are collecting data on plant height or ACS or leaf width or other observations which the multispeQ device cannot collect. Is there a way for the students to add this data to the site as an uploaded Excel file? If not could might you consider allowing for this? Also, I assume that when they want to upload their final poster to the Results of th... read more

Unable to access data on website

By Casey Reagan

We are measuring Phi2 and SPAD3 in wheat research plots and we have uploaded all of our data onto the server up until this point. Now, the data doesn't show up on our Dashboard when we try to view it. What could be causing this? As you can imagine, we can't move forward without our data!

Changes to web site and re-synch to tablet takes 24 hours before data collection can occur?

By Sonya Lawrence

Hi all, We have had issues when our students change the questions at the web site. It appears that if they change the questions and then try a re-synch the tablet app that it does not happen right away. We are finding that it takes 24 hours to get the tablet to have the new questions. We thought it might be our wifi connection in the building but it appears to also happe... read more

By Craig White

In reading the beginning tutorial I need clarification on the following comment " IF YOU ARE RUNNING WINDOWS, you need to install a driver. Go to http://www.pjrc.com/teensy/td_download.html and install Teensyduino. You only need to install the driver (the first part of the install) – once it prompts you to install the remainder of the program you can hit cancel. Is there ... read more

can't find on off button!

By Greg Austic

Question from Craig: I can't find the on off button or it doesn't appear to be there. Answer: It's there, it's just really small. It's in the space directly below the USB connection. Press your whole finger into that space and it'll compress a small button there. Try not to press it with your fingernail as it can damage the button. It's small because a) it's cheap and ... read more

What's the impact of dew on Photosynq measurements?

By Anne Stanton

Hi, I'm trying to use photosynq to measure phi2 and SPAD on wheat in farmer's fields. The other day I went out to take measurements and it was extremely damp. I tried to shake off the dew with my fingers, but it was still quite damp. Should I be using a paper towel to dry them before taking measurements? What effect, if any, does that have on the data? Thanks

Adding a cuvette holder to your MultispeQ beta

By Greg Austic

If you are intending to use the MultispeQ device to measure absorbance, transmittance, or reflectance in cuvettes then you may want the MultispeQ cuvette holder. Note that once you install the cuvette holder, the calibration for most of the plant measurements go out the window (photosynthetic efficiency, chlorophyll content, etc.) - so be aware you may need to recalibrate ... read more
