Leaf Photosynthesis - MultispeQ Beta ONLY


Measures photosynthesis-related parameters in <15 seconds, including: Phi2, PhiNPQ, PhiNO, NPQt, qL, LEF, and SPAD. In addition, measures PAR (photosynthetically active radiation), ambient temperature and relative humidity.

  1. Split each tree into four quadrants (north west, north east, south west, and south east) and take 6 samples per quadrant, 24 samples per tree for all 6 trees.
  2. We will start at Ginkgo 16 and start at the NW quadrant
  3. 6 random samples will be taken in each quadrant in this order: NW, NE, SW, SE.
  4. We choose 6 branches from each quadrant that are in reach and measure the youngest leaves(the leaves farthest from the trunk).
  5. Place the MultispeQ device in the middle of the leaf to take the measurement.
  6. Do this for all quadrants in this tree
  7. Move to Ginkgo 17 and 18 and repeat these steps
  8. Next go to Q. Imbricaria 3 and split each tree into four quadrants (north west, north east, south west, and south east) and take 6 samples per quadrant, 24 samples per tree for all 6 trees.
  9. Start in the NW quadrant and measure the 2 youngest leaves from 3 of the branches that are in our reach.
  10. Make sure the leaves are minimal damage and holes.
  11. Move on to tree 1 and 2 and repeat these steps.
