I think my unit has a major problem. The symptoms are the batteries won't charge, when hooked up to power through the usb the unit will power on but when an attemt to take a measurement the software gets to the point of "initializing please wait", that is as far as it goes. I wonder if I need new batteries but I have only taken 20 or so measurements since I got the unit maybe 2 month ago. Anybody have any thoughts?

You have to remove the batteries to charge them - they are rechargeable AAA. Sorry, the next version will have an integrated battery circuit. Just pop off the back panel and you'll see the AAA batteries on the inside.

Let's catch up, I think I can probably help you quite a bit. Are you available to talk next week?

Aha, that would make sense. I'll get a charger. When I get them charged I'll try another experiment and call you. I'm a self employed plant broker so my schedule is rarely of my own making. Call me anytime though If i can't talk I'll let you know and will call you back asap.
