BIOGRAPHY


I am Polish plant physiologist of Syrian origin. I have more than 30 years of experiences in the field of photosynthesis and stress physiology. After finishing my study at The Faculty of Agriculture - Aleppo University (Syria), I got my PhD degree from Agriculture Faculty (recently, Faculty of Agriculture and Biology) at Warsaw Agricultural University-SGGW (recently, Warsaw University of Life Sciences-SGGW). Lately, I am working as Associate Professor at the same university as a lecturer (Topics: Plant physiology; Yielding biology and biological progress; The use of computerized equipment in plant physiological studies and agricultural sciences; Physiology of crop yield; Biological progress and yield biology; Physiology of plants and its production under climate change; Photosynthetic crop productivity under unfavourable environmental conditions; Energy crops: a renewable energy source; Climate change impacts on plant growth and crop yield) and researcher (photosynthesis, chlorophyll fluorescence; abiotic and biotic stress; nutrient deficiency; climate change; crops production).

I have been working as international scientific counsellor and cooperates with more than 50 well known International Institutes, laboratories and companies that develop instrumentations to be used in the field of plant physiology. I am working as Vice Chair of MSCA at the Scientific Committee of European Union (Brussels, Belgium). I already published 4 books (in Polish, Italian and Russian) and more than 100 scientific papers (HI = 11 and IF =97). Besides, I am working as Associate Editor of Photosynthetica Journal and belongs to The Editorial Board of 7 other international scientific journals. I organized many world-wide conferences and participated in more than 150 meetings, symposiums and seminars.

Recently, with my team, is working on the application of chlorophyll fluorescence technique and artificial neural networks (ANN) to identify and predict stress type in higher plants. I am also working on a new book about chlorophyll fluorescence in Arabic language. I am involved, as a leader, in a huge project funded by The National Centre for Research and Development (Poland) related to saving of water resources and air quality improvement through the use of rainwater retention, where chlorophyll fluorescence measurements are implemented.
